Update from 3/2/25

This extensive election analysis is marked by an Albrecht von Lucke who clearly has a lot of fun during the conversation. Additionally, Ulrike Hermann patiently takes the opportunity during the conversation to rein Albrecht in a bit.

I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation.

Country Bumpkins

Especially the part where Ulrike Hermann clarifies who the gentlemen of the CDU actually are, who present themselves as an all-male group before the first explorations with the SPD.

Several characteristics unite Friedrich Merz, Carsten Linnemann, and Jens Spahn. They are men. That much is clear. They all come from NRW and, thirdly, they all hail from the countryside; specifically from Westphalia.

These lines are being written in the electoral district 146 Hochsauerlandkreis, which Friedrich Merz naturally won.

Naturally is the key word for me. Anyone from here, from Ahaus or Paderborn, usually cannot deny their origin. All three places are in rural Westphalia. Ahaus in the west, Paderborn in the east, and Brilon in the south. All three CDU politicians cannot deny their roots, and we should come to terms with that. They score points with ultra-conservative voter groups, where the father still tells the daughter what she should vote for.

In short: What Ulrike Hermann wants to say. The upcoming federal government significantly consists of hillbillies.
